UPDATED MEETING SCHEDULE AND STATUS OF CELL TOWER APPLICATION

UPDATE 3-27-2008
Next Scheduled Hearing
Tuesday April 15, 2008

The applicants for placement of a Cell Tower and base station in the midst of a Residential Zone in the Township of Washington behind the Washington Township Racquet Club on Pascack Road, where a conservation easement has been established, have re-opened their application and have requested a public hearing in order to proceed with this application.

To date, Cingular's engineers have been presenting their testimony on the reasons for wanting to place a cell tower in a residential zone.

The next Zoning Board hearing for this cell tower application will be:

DATE:   Tuesday, April 15, 2008
TIME:    8:00 PM
PLACE:  Town Hall

We ask all the residents of the Township of Washington to attend these special and critical hearings so that the Zoning Board is aware of how important this issue is to us as residents, and to our concerns about preserving the value of our homes and the character of our Township.

Placement of a commercial Cell Tower in the midst of a Residential Zone ONLY 90 FEET FROM RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY LINES is directly opposed to the planning and zoning objectives of our Township.

Impact on real estate values of surrounding homes, and on the aesthetics of our town, will be significant.

This initiative must be stopped.  Please attend the April 15 meeting to express your concern about the inappropriateness of placing commercial cell towers within Residential zones in our Township!

>>   HEARINGS TO DATE   <<

January 22, 2008 hearing: Cingular's radio frequency experts provided coverage simulation maps and stated the reasons they would like to add a tower at the Washington Racquet Club in a residential zone.

February 26, 2008 hearing: This hearing was abbreviated and no testimony was given, due to a technical difficulty with the Court Reporter's transcript equipment.  Since no transcript of the meeting could be taken, the meeting was adjourned after a period of discussion on how the application would proceed.

March 18, 2008 hearing: T-Mobile Engineer presented radio frequency testimony.

Radio frequency experts for Cingular and Omnipoint will again be present at the next scheduled special hearing for this application on Tuesday, April 15, at 8 PM.

At that time, a Planning Expert may also provide testimony.

Get EVERYONE involved!  Rivervale kept a Tower out of a residential area only because they turned out in large numbers to oppose it.  We can do the same!  They say "Numbers did it!"

Placement of even a single commercial cell tower in a residential zone of our Township will also set irreversible legal precedents in our town.

Such placement will mandate that all other carriers be granted equal access if they want to apply for similar cell tower placements within the Community.

Let the Town Council and Zoning Board know you are opposed to placing this tower in a Residential Zone.
It doesn't belong in the midst of our homes where it can be seen from every direction,
devalue our property and impede the sale of our homes.
